Sinogastromyzon puliensis(Taiwanese Hillstream Loach)

Medium-sized loach with a flattened body and greatly expanded pectoral and pelvic fins. Running along the ventral surface are a scattering of small circular spots. The ventral surface is pale and unmarked. Sinogastromyzon wui is similar but has a series of rectangular patches on the dorsal surface.

Fish information (behaviour and breeding):

Sinogastromyzon inhabit shallow, fast-flowing water where they graze on aufwuchs, the combination of green algae and small invertebrates found encrusting boulders and pebbles. In the aquarium they are readily satisfied with frozen bloodworms and algae wafers. The main problem maintaining these fish in the long term is providing them with appropriate environmental conditions. Water chemistry isn't important, but the water must be clean, fast-flowing, and highly oxygenated.
