Dimidiochromis kiwinge(Kiwinge Eye-biter Cichlid, Haplochromis kiwinge)

A large predatory cichlid for the robust community. Males are essentially yellowy with blue markings across the face and flanks. The anal fin is red with whhitish egg spots. The dorsal fin is edged with blue and red. A dark band runs along the midline of the fish from behind the eye to the base of the tail. Females less brightly coloured, mostly silvery with the dark band.


Fish information (behaviour and breeding):

A piscivore in the wild feeding primarily on small cichlids and cyprinids but in aquaria can be fed on pellets and robust invertebrates such as earthworms, river shrimps, etc. Wild fish are found usually in pairs or groups, but within the confines of aquaria tends to be territorial. Its large size and predatory habits demands a spacious aquarium with robust tankmates. Maternal mouthbrooder.
